Snickers Cake
I saw a photo of a similar cake online and was inspired to create my own version. There wasn't a recipe to follow this time so I had to do a little bit of research before I started. I used a few recipes that I have used previously to create this cake.
There was a lot of component to this cake. I won't bore you with all the recipes but here are the components that make up this cake:
There was a lot of component to this cake. I won't bore you with all the recipes but here are the components that make up this cake:
- Chocolate Cake, (I used the chocolate cake recipe from my Golden Gaytime Cake.)
- Creme de Luche mixed with freshly whipped cream for the filling and piping on the top.
- Chocolate Ganache for drizzle
- Warm Creme de Luche
- Chocolate Macaroons
- Praline with peanuts
- Chocolate bark- Dairy milk chocolate with cut up Snickers
- Fun size and full size Snickers
I know that all the components of this cake can make it seem a little overwhelming. But if you make all the components the assembly is pretty easy. On the cake stand or cake board that you are planning to present, place the first cake layer. Fill a piping bag with a star tip with the Creme de Luche cream and pipe in the filling.
Place the next layer of cake on top. Pour the chocolate ganache over the top of the cake allowing it to drizzle down the side of the cakes. Warm up some Creme De Luche. Drizzle it over the edge of the cakes for effect.
Arrange the bark, praline, macaroons and Snickers on the top of the cakes. Around the outside of the cake pipe a ring of the remaining cream mixture to finish.
This cake was a challenge but definitely worth the effort. As you can see in the picture my assistant/cat, Quinn, approved and as per usual was curious as to what I had created.
This is my 100th blog post. When I started I didn't know how it would go or if it would keep my interest. I have loved nearly every moment of it. I can't believe how much I have learnt during that time and what I have been able to create. This cake is the perfect example of how far I have come. In my wildest dreams I wouldn't have thought I would be able to create this cake in the beginning. When I started I was an ok cook but I wasn't very adventurous. I have tried recipes in the past couple of years that taken me out of my comfort zone and challenged me.
Thanks for reading and here's to another 100.
Until next time, Happy cooking, Kate.
